Special Cases is the solo project of Juan Pablo Rodri´guez, founder of South American
minimalist act Fo¨llakzoid. Commenced almost a decade ago with the intention of
exploring inwards into his psyche, and constructed with treated guitar sounds and
Roland synthesisers, Special Cases is the rather magical result.

Influenced by the music they made together in Unisex in the late Nineties during
the period where The Telescopes had disintegrated, ‘Third Wave’ saw Stephen Lawrie
and Joanna Doran revive the iconic space rock band for a third studio album in 2002.
The aptly titled ‘Third Wave’ embraced ambience and texture to create a sound world
that was simultaneously becalming and disorientating.
