Reverb drenched songs of colour and death are at the heartbeat of The Confederate

UIHR 2 WOLFEN THE MISSION LP 04.2021
Limited to 125 copies on turquoise vinyl. Wolfen is the brainchild of multi
instrumentalist Shane Horgan and also features Jonathan Parkes and Alec Wood from
kosmische rockers Korb and Arboria, and also the creators of Dreamlord Recordings.
The trio come together beautifully to create stunning atmospheric shoegaze
soundscapes, and combined with Shane's sometimes rasping sometimes delicate lysergic
vocals Wolfen take you on a psychedelic interstellar journey like never before as
'The Mission' unfolds. The album moves through an earthly garage rawness of sound
and emotion to an almost ecstatic psych-tinged state of bliss. On the surface the
songs are based on a journey through space, but underlying that are universal
themes of love, loss, family, and war.

These intimate instrumentals have grown slowly, lovingly crafted from a variety of
acoustic and electric instruments played by eight musicians. Acoustic guitar, bass,
electric piano, cello, saxophone, clarinet, flugelhorn, trombone, analogue synths
and percussion combine to create an understated intricacy of sound. While it can't
be pinned down to any particular genre it incorporates folk, spiritual jazz, and
elements of '70s German experimentation. It conjures timeless, transcendent moments
representing love and loss, acceptance and hope, a dream drifting through the
spacious tranquility of the English countryside and the intimate fire lit glow of home.

"From The Mountains To The Oceans" is the culmination of collaborative experimental
transatlantic jams between Korb and El Hombre Al Agua. The two bands are also joined
by Dom Keen of The Hologram People and Studio Kosmische. From minimal atmospheric
ambience to all out psych rock the album combines a range of analogue synths,
electric and acoustic guitars, organ, bass, drums and percussion to create cosmic
journeys that evoke evolution and ancient landscapes, the alchemy of elements and
timeless tectonics.
