SUPA 1201 PINK FLOYD : BROADCAST IN ROME, MAY 6TH, 1968 LP 03.2019

        01. ASTRONOMY DOMINE
        02. INTERSTELLAR OVERDRIVE
        03. SET THE CONTROLS FOR THE HEART OF THE SUN
        04. ROGER WATERS INTERVIEW

The legendary Pink Floyd concert at the First International Pop Festival in Rome
in May 1968. This well recorded performance captures Waters, Gilmour, Wright and
Mason in their very early Post-Barrett era; the time when the band was busy trying
to reinvent themselves after the crucial split with genius Syd Barrett. This was
even before the release of their second album, when Waters and Co. really began to
extend the classic three / four minute song format towards longer and more open
sound forms. A marvelous track list including seminal compositions and psychedelic
manifestos such as "Astronomy Domine", "Set The Control for the Heart of the Sun"
and "Interstellar Overdrive" all great sparks for visionary instrumental progressions
and far out improvisations. The album ends with an excerpt of Roger Water's voice
from a radio interview broadcast. Limited edition of 500 copies on green vinyl.

The Melbourne show on June 17th was The Beatles's sixth and final date of their second
Australian visit. Another incredible event that showed Beatlemania at one of its
highest points- John, Paul, George and Ringo played their "usual" breathtaking set
list in front of a wild and screaming crowd and after more than 50 years the whole
thing still feels like pure Rock 'n' Roll.

The Doors's famous Stockholm concert in September 1968 was one of the highlights of
their first European tour. The band was at the very peak of their tumultuous career
with Morrison, Krieger, Manzarek and Densmore showing off great energy and theatrical
power. An amazing set list including strong renditions of classics such as "When the
Music is Over", "The End", "Light my Fire" and rare performances of "Mack the Knife"
and " You're lost, Little Girl".
