Precocious young MPC botherer quickly, quickly follows up March’s Paths LP with a new
five-track release. q, q is just 17 years old, but Over Skies is inventive and mature
in a manner that belies his young years. The way ‘If You Only Knew’ shifts from
skittish beatwork to muted IDM to warm hip-house is reminiscent of early Mount Kimbie,
while there are a lot of producers on the Stones Throw roster who’d be pleased to
come up with something like ‘Ghost’.
